Case Challenge #1
A claimant informed the nurse case manager that he was going to request more Percocet from his oncologist, and not advise the doctor that he was already taking quite a bit of Percocet from his primary treating physician.

Our Solution
The nurse faxed letters to the oncologist and the other doctor involved in the case (an orthopedist) notifying them of the claimant's current dosage of Percocet in case he requested narcotic scrips from them. This was done to prevent the claimant from obtaining narcotics from more than one MD and putting himself in danger of an overdose.
