Provides medical case management services to persons whom were injured on the job. The nurse will use medical expertise combined with knowledge of the workers' compensation system to make sure that injured workers receive timely and appropriate medical treatment to promote early return to work and claims resolution. The nurse will facilitate communication and action among employers, insurance carriers, physicians, treatment teams and injured workers.
Essential duties include but are not limited to: accepts new/transferred case assignments, set up files, performs initial assessment, and reviews past and present clinical information from treating physician. Formulates plan of action for the rehabilitative process, utilizing accepted guidelines for specific injuries. Communicates in writing and by phone with claims examiner and employer, providing anticipated and actual disability status and communicates ability to return to pre-injury occupations. Encourages and initiates dialogue between the injured person, physician, employer and claims examiner. Travels locally to attend physician visits with injured persons to provide opportunities for collaboration and coordination of services, treatment plans, dialogues with the physician to facilitate appropriate medical treatment, and provide authorizations to implement services as authorized. Maintains confidentiality of injured worker's medical, disability, and demographic information. Prepares and submits professionally typed initial/progress/closure case management reports and billing sheets.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or better. Six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business communication. Ability to write/type reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions from employers, carriers, clients and the medical team.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Knowledge and experience with internet software and Microsoft Office products (WORD, EXCEL & OUTLOOK) software. Ability to type 40 WPM.
Current California Registered Nursing License; Current Driver's License and insured automobile.
